Covenant of Faith and Government
The fundamental beliefs that anchor the Covenant of Faith and Government of Resurrected Church Ministries are based on scripture and are in concord with the Doctrinal Statement and Teaching Position set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws of Resurrected Church Ministries.
WE BELIEVE ...
- In one God in three persons: the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Holy Ghost (1 John 5:7-8; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
- That the Word (the Son) was made flesh (fully God and fully man) and died for the sins of the world and rose again on the third day, that he might be the author of eternal salvation by establishing a new and better covenant through the shedding of his own blood. Jesus Christ is King of Kings and the Lord of all (John 1:1; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 10:36; 1 Timothy 6:13-15; Hebrews 5:9, 9:12-14, 28).
- That the King James Version of the Bible is the written record the Word of God (see video). It is without doctrinal fault and error, and completely without contradiction. It is profitable for reproof, doctrine, and instruction in righteousness. It is the beginning and final authority on all questions of doctrine and godliness. It is the final arbiter of all discussions and disagreements. Every idea is subject to its teachings through the Holy Ghost's interpretation (Romans 10:5-8; 2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 19:7; 1 Corinthians 2:13-14; 2 Peter 2:20-21).
- That true believers in Jesus Christ abide in the Word of God through continual study, belief, obedience, and prayer: seeking to be transformed—conformed to the image of God's son (John 8:31-32; John 15:1-8; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 5:12-14; Romans 10:17; James 1:22; Luke 21:36; Romans 12:1-2; Romans 8:29-30).
- In the gifts of the Spirit of God which come into the believer as the manifestation of God's presence in the believer's life (1 Corinthians 12:1-10; Mark 16:17-18).
- In the fruit of the Spirit of God which is evidence of the believer's right-standing with God (Ephesians 5:8-10; Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:1-8).
- In the Body of Christ, universally, whose Head is Jesus Christ, and in the members of the Body of Christ, locally, whose Head is still Jesus Christ, not a man (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1:18).
- In freely giving to those in need as an expression of the love of God; because he laid down his life for us: we ought to lay down our lives for others (Matthew 5:42; Acts 20:35; 2 Corinthians 8:11-15; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15; 1 John 3:16-18).
- In the unity of faith and the unity of the knowledge of Jesus Christ that we may stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel (Ephesians 4:13; Philippians 1:27).
- In the plurality of leadership in the church of God: there should be more than one elder over a local body. There is no hierarchy within the elders. So in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word will be established (Matthew 23:8; 2 Corinthians 13:1; Matthew 18:20; Galatians 2:9; 1 Peter 2:5).
- That the formal leadership (elders and deacons) of the church are to be male (1 Corinthians 11:3-10; 1 Timothy 2:12-15; 1 Timothy 3:1-13).
- In the resurrection of the dead and the translation of the saints on the Day of the Lord, the Last Day, the Day of Judgment, when Jesus Christ comes again for the purpose of salvation. We do not believe in the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 1 Corinthians 15:20-58; Romans 8:10-11, 17-25; 1 John 1:1-3; 2 Corinthians 4:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-7).
